Dr. Bec McNaught
Board Member and Research Team leader
Bec brings over 20 years of experience in climate change adaptation and disaster risk management across the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions. Her career has encompassed roles with the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement and the United Nations Development Programme, focusing on building resilience in vulnerable communities. She is also a co-founder and co-leader of the New Brighton, South Golden Beach, Ocean Shores Community Resilience Team.
Currently, Bec is a Research Fellow at the University Centre for Rural Health, where she investigates the intersection of climate change, health, and well-being in rural communities. Her PhD research at Griffith University delves into collaborative governance for climate and disaster-resilient development in the Pacific region.
Passionate about the power of collaboration, Rebecca integrates this ethos into her professional endeavours and community partnerships. Her dedication is further fueled by her role as a mother, driving her commitment to seeking solutions to the global climate emergency for future generations.
In addition to being a board member, Bec is also the leader of our Research Team. As part of this, Bec has led, among other research projects, our work on Big ideas on Resilience.
