Northern Rivers Community Resilience Alliance

Plan C and the Northern Rivers Community Resilience Alliance

At Plan C, we believe in the power of collaboration to build stronger, more prepared communities. That’s why we are proud to be a founding member of the Northern Rivers Community Resilience Alliance — a network of grassroots, community-led, place-based, resilience-building groups and organisations working together to enhance disaster preparedness, response, and recovery across our region.

About the Alliance

The Northern Rivers Community Resilience Alliance (NRCRA) was established in March 2024 to address the growing need for regional grassroots collaboration, reduce duplication, and facilitate skills and knowledge sharing. The Alliance brings together local groups dedicated to strengthening community-led disaster response efforts by sharing expertise, resources, and support. By working together and seeking shared funding opportunities, we enhance our collective impact, connectivity, and resilience.

Our region has faced significant challenges in recent years, including devastating floods and extreme weather events. Community organisations have played a vital role in recovery efforts, demonstrating the importance of local knowledge and strong networks in times of crisis. The Alliance was formed to formalise and reinforce these connections, ensuring a more coordinated and effective approach to resilience-building.

Plan C’s Role

As part of the Alliance, Plan C contributes by:

  • Supporting community-led disaster preparedness – We help communities develop practical strategies to mitigate risks and prepare for emergencies.

  • Enhancing local response capacity – By working alongside other Alliance members, we ensure that volunteer and community-led responses are well-supported and effective.

  • Sharing knowledge and resources – We collaborate with partner organisations to provide training, tools, and guidance for disaster resilience.

  • Advocating for community-driven recovery – We amplify the voices of local communities to ensure that disaster recovery efforts reflect their needs and priorities.
