We are offering free training to build your community’s resilience!
Resilient Byron and OzGREEN proudly present “Resilient Communities”, a new and FREE program to strengthen our communities’ resilience, regeneration and disaster preparedness by fostering community-driven solutions.
'Resilient communities' is an 8-module community education program that engages the Byron Shire community to strengthen disaster preparedness and resilience. Participants become facilitators who are trained to empower and train their own community to implement projects that build their resilience and regeneration. It focuses on addressing resilience challenges including climate change; fire and ecosystem; water; food; energy; infrastructure; economy; and health.
The first training module will take place on the 23rd of May (all day) and the second one on the 29th of May (afternoon). Subsequent modules will then occur on a monthly basis. In between attending these modules, participants will be asked to facilitate, with our support, a monthly workshop with their community. The dates of these workshops will be agreed together later.
Becoming a Facilitator is a commitment and networking will be involved. Participants are required to commit to complete all 8 modules, and, as part of it, facilitate (with our support and alongside other facilitators) 7 workshops on these topics with their local community.
