We won a grant to support a community in bushfire recovery

Through research and discussions with the community and professionals (including the Red Cross, the Local Health District and the Department of Primary Industries), we have found that communal connection and fun would be good ways to currently support communities affected by the 2019-2020 bushfires, COVID-19 and other events. So we’ll do just that!

Resilient Byron’s Health and Wellbeing team, in collaboration with the Ashby community, plans to run an event later this year called "Celebrating Resilient Communities", and located in Ashby. This project is funded thanks to a grant from Healthy North Coast.

The event will celebrate resilience, build community connection and acknowledge the contribution of volunteers who were on the frontline and have been supporting the wellbeing of their community since the bushfires.

This event will include entertainment, food, information about wellbeing programs/support, speakers to share information/tools/practices to strengthen resilience and promote mental health, and an optional program (e.g. discussion, guided meditation and arts).

Well, that’s exciting!
