Join the Byron Shire resilience and regeneration roadshow!

Hey everyone,

We hope you’re well and have been able to rest a bit during this break. We’re back after a short break and are excited and inspired to announce that Resilient Byron is hosting, in collaboration with Renew Fest, the Byron Shire Resilient and Regeneration Roadshow, a series of free events generously made possible by the Northern Rivers Community Foundation.

Each of the roadshow events are three-hour long, deep-dive sessions, held on five Saturdays in February through to April across the Byron region, culminating at the Renew Fest festival in May. See below for more info.

Our region got hit hard by a number of disasters and crises lately so we as a community want to come together to be better prepared and transform the way we live. The goal is to develop concrete ideas and actions to help make our community and neighbours more resilient and regenerative in 2021 and beyond.

We’ll send more information about the roadshow during the coming weeks, but space is limited due to COVID restrictions, so make sure you book your place early (here)! And of course, please, please, please, make sure to share this and our future messages if you want to help us transform our region.

We sincerely hope to see you at one of the roadshow events, the one closest to you.

2020 was a year that laid bare some harsh realities in our shire.

We faced floods and fire, inequities were revealed as the pandemic raged around us, and basic rights like housing became out of reach for many in our community.

It was also a year that gave us hope. Our communities connected in ways they never had before. Solutions were created, borne out of necessity. Conversations about resilience, race and privilege became front page news.

We think 2021 offers a fresh start, so to get us inspired we're gathering community groups and local changemakers to work on concrete ideas about how we can transform our neighbourhoods and local community.

We’ve asked five local big thinkers to each share one concrete idea that they believe will help create resilience and regeneration, starting with their neighbourhood. Through a guided workshop process you can also share your ideas and together we’ll figure out what we, as communities, organisations and change makers, need to make the Byron Shire the blueprint for local and regional positive change. All this will be showcased and further workshopped at Renew Fest in May 2021.
