Who we are

Rena Frohman

Program Director

Rena brings a wealth of experience and insight to her role as Program Director at Plan C, shaped by more than 25 years of work in community education, teacher training, program design, action-research, and social impact. Her career spans local and international contexts, from universities and government collaborations to grassroots initiatives, and is grounded in a passion for co-creating more just, connected, and resilient communities.

Before joining Plan C, Rena was the Capability and Design Lead at the Griffith Centre for Systems Innovation, where she worked with a wide range of stakeholders, from local communities to renewable energy organisations, to co-design systems-focused programs for better futures. Her earlier work includes award-winning education programs at QUT and capacity-building projects across sectors, always with a strong emphasis on listening deeply and designing for real-world impact.

After volunteering in remote Myanmar through the DFAT Australian Volunteers program, Rena completed a Master of Leadership in Global Development and relocated to the Northern Rivers, where her professional and community lives merged during and after the 2022 floods. She co-founded the Evans Area Resilient Network group, completed the Community Carers and Responders course, and has helped coordinate local disaster preparedness initiatives in collaboration with Plan C and other community organisations.

At Plan C, Rena is not only a strategic thinker and creative program designer—she’s also the one who keeps the whole team on track. Her attention to detail, calm leadership, and exceptional organisational skills bring clarity and momentum to complex projects and community-led work.

Rena lives in Evans Head with her partner and rescue dog Gus, and fills her days with gardening, meditation, swimming, and playing tennis or pickleball.
