Disaster Ready Summit
Earlier in March we attended the Disaster Ready Together Summit in Lismore, organised by Resilient Lismore. There was such a buzz and the calibre of presenters was both inspiring and impressive, featuring a diverse array of voices including First Nations scholars, community-led resilience group leaders, and emergency management personnel.
Topics ranged from indigenous resilience and person-centered emergency preparedness to collaboration between government institutions and community groups, mental health, and well-being. It was two packed days, sparking insightful discussions and valuable insights.
Bec McNaught, a board member of Plan C, a research fellow at the University Centre for Rural Health, and co-leader of the South Golden Beach CRT (Community Resilience Team), participated in a keynote panel, sharing her perspectives on collaborative approaches between different agencies and groups. Jean, CEO of Plan C, delivered a presentation on community-led resilience alongside the wonderful Jo Longman and Emma Pittaway from the University Centre for Rural Health.
It was so great to connect and learn from each other!
