Join us: Rising Together: Food Security

We have now held 4 of our empowering events called Rising Together. Thanks to feedback from the community, these have focused on food security as this was a crucial concern in aiding our community in transitioning from flood recovery to disaster resilience. We held one of these online to make it more accessible to those who couldn't make it in person and we've been consistently receiving very positive feedback about how dynamic and engaging these events are.

Our next Food Security Rising Together events are scheduled for:

These events aim to address critical issues surrounding food security within the region, inviting farmers, growers, community gardeners, co-ops, food swappers, sellers, soup kitchens, resilience advocates, alongside consumers, to participate. Participants engage in networking sessions and discussions focusing on producing, growing, accessing, and storing food. Additionally, insights from Plan C's recent study on Northern Rivers Food Security are shared, offering both regional perspectives and practical solutions for individuals and communities.

"What impressed me the most about our previous Rising Together Food Security Events is that even food growers and producers, who know their stuff when it comes to food, realised that they too were actually not ready for disruptions to our food systems, such as the like we experienced in the floods in 2022 when supermarket shelves were empty. Our event allows participants to connect with like-minded locals and also learn practical ways to ensure we are all better prepared for disruptions."

Jean Renouf, CEO of Plan C

To foster meaningful dialogue and connections, attendance for each event is limited to 25 participants, with a waitlist available in case of cancellations.

Plan C extends a warm invitation to all community members interested in food security and resilience-building efforts to join this impactful event. Your participation and insights will play a crucial role in shaping a more resilient future for our region.
