We’re looking for a grant writer (paid role)

Given Resilient Byron’s ambitious transformative agenda (making our region resilient and regenerative, no less!), we are putting together a fundraising team to help us develop further. As part of it, we are looking for a grant writer, which, thanks to a generous donation, would be a paid role. More details below.
Grant Writer Role Description
Resilient Byron (RB) is a not for profit organisation which aims to create, support and nurture a Byron Shire that is regenerative for people and the natural environment and resilient to the diverse impacts of the climate emergency.
Our primary aims are to
ensure Byron shire becomes resilient in times of disaster and regenerative in the face of the climate emergency and other crises.
help communities and neighbourhoods develop their capacity to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters.
deepen local community connections and the local financial ecosystem.
We have made substantial progress in establishing community and neighbourhood resilience groups with Team Leaders in place.
We are now seeking a Grant Writer to help us develop Resilient Byron further, primarily through raising funds via grant applications. Initially this role will focus on writing grants that we have already identified but will then morph to helping us identify and apply for further opportunities. The Grant Writer will eventually be part of a fundraising team which aim will be to raise funds from diverse sources, including but not limited to grant opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Write high-quality grant proposal narratives, applications, and supporting documents
Responsible for researching, collecting data, and writing of each grant
Follow all requirements and deadlines for grant applications
Maintain a grants calendar to monitor progress
Coordinate and follow-ups on the progress of submitted proposals
Communicate with potential donors and institutional donors
Develops an annual grants strategy
Identify new funding opportunities
Review budget proposals with other team leaders
Perform other duties as assigned
Terms
We have received a generous donation to kick-start this position. This donation will be used to pay for the initial hours spent on writing grants, at the cost of $30 per hour. As part of this, grants and other funding opportunities will be sought to provide further financial support for this position. The first grant writing process will be used as a contract trial period.
Hours, location and duration of term are flexible but the expectation is that the successful candidate will be able to commit to a minimum of one day a week.
Key Competencies
A minimum of 2 years of experience in research and grant writing; nonprofit experience a plus
Demonstrated ability to write successful grant proposals
Bachelor’s Degree valued
Detail-oriented, organized, deadline-driven
Clear, precise and compelling writing skills
Able to effectively communicate
Motivated self starter with the ability to work independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
High proficiency in all areas of Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
