NextGen Navigators, Evans River

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our NextGen Navigators program at Evans River School! The calibre of participants is truly inspiring. These young leaders are already deeply connected to their community, and through this program, they'll gain vital skills in disaster resilience, bushcraft, practical first aid, and psychological first aid—further strengthening their commitment to making a difference.

Yesterday, we threw the participants straight into the deep end, by having them start the training through a disaster scenario. So they were left on their own, with a loud thunderstorm and rain sound playing in the background, having to gather information about the unfolding disaster, organise themselves and take actions. And so after a short moment of confusion, we were thrilled to seem them self-organise, providing meaningful help in a safe way, all the while keeping their cool! It was inspiring to witness, and a great reminder of how capable youth is to act meaningfully, even in times of disruptions.
